Conventional Heat Pump
Conventional ducted heat pump systems require an outdoor unit (heat pump) and an indoor unit (air handler) to function and give you the benefit of heating and cooling. In the Summer, your heat pump will take the heat from the indoor air and push it outside your home. In the winter, your heat pump will extract heat from the outdoor air and pull it inside your home through existing ducts.
Mini-split
Mini-split ductless heat pump is a different type of heat pump. In addition to all the benefits of a regular heat pump, ductless heat pump systems can be installed in virtually any space without the use of air ducts, making them much easier and more affordable to install instead of installing new ducts. They also allow for the use of zones, meaning you can set different temperatures, It is suitable for basement suites, room additions, garden suites.
